Artist's Comments: This painting expresses the trees I pass by at Burnaby Lake and how these can represent the surrounding community of the lake - including us. The trees acts as a protective barrier as well as a home for many. I depicted the trees all connected to each other by their branches and it is the various colours (or personalities) that make the community interesting and vibrant. I also accentuated the lowland grasses: the seemingly unnoticeable "characters" as I feel these are just as important and also give life to the whole. The water like a gift from God is something we all need and therefore is also part of this image.
