Biography: |
| | I was born in Halmstad, Sweden and immigrated to Canada with my parents and brothers, in 1950. I have lived in Quebec and Ontario and, now, reside in Langley, British Columbia, Canada, with my husband. Our daughter and son, along with our five grandchildren, live close by.As I began my first steps into the field of visual arts, over the years, my journey has, also, encompassed oil pastels, ceramics, tole painting, acrylics, drawing and pen and ink. In 1998, when I was introduced to oils at the Fraser River School of Arts, I was "hooked" and found that working with a medium such as oils was truly a pleasure to create a painting with and, to this day, am continually delighted with my choice. I am an Active Member of the FCA-FVC and have shown my artwork in their many venues and Juried Shows around the Fraser Valley.
These shows have included the Langley Centennial Museum, Mission Art Gallery, Kariton Art Gallery, Abbotsford City Hall, Surrey Art Gallery, Place des Arts, and the White Rock Art Society. |

Artist's Statement: |
| | My artwork is my signature into the artworld of exploration and discovery and as “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, so is the reflection of my own eye into the complex world of God’s handiwork.
My first step into visual arts began in 1998, with a humbleness of learning how to do it and how to create what you see before you. I loved the the way the oil paint moved beneath my brush and the continuous challenges that color evoked in each of my paintings.
I am inspired by my travels, my garden and my family life photography and I begin my paintings by evaluating what has touched my heart and through a series of drawings and color choices, I begin the glazing procedures to build up my paintings to represent a realistic piece of artwork. I have learned that, sometimes, I'm even in the mood for abstract art and pallet knife painting which gives quite a different effect from the norm and gives me a different challenge to work with.
At this point in my life, I am intrigued by the way light gives life to a painting and I pursue all sorts of venues to try to capture this and to create a mood to touch the viewers heart.
Trying to capture the beauty and essence of life around me, be it still life, florals, nature scenes or portraits, is a never ending pursuit of my heart and soul and, with it, brings a deep sense of satisfaction when I am at work behind my easel.
For most of my artwork, I try to convey a feeling of peace and tranquility, and my goal, as an artist, is to create paintings that bring about an emotional response from the
viewer and, at the same time, inviting the viewer to bring it home with them. |
