| ||Born in Northern Ireland. I was always interested in art. I was exposed to much creativity and skill as I watched my Grandfather, a draftsman, who worked on the Spitfire planes during the war, fashion small boats out of scrap pieces of wood which my brother and I floated in the rain barrel next to the greenhouse! I treasure some of his drawings as well as his drafting set.
My parents also influenced me. Dad, in that his skill, precision and ingenuity when fixing, or building something around the house was and still is, astonishing! Another early memory is of Mom showing me how to draw a "crinoline lady". To play with colour and patterns was a lot of fun!
After immigrating to Ottawa as a teenager I studied Fine Art and although I learned much and appreciate the effort that goes into abstract art I am a realist through and through. Achieving a diploma in Commercial Art was more to my liking since it has the elements of both creativity and realism that I enjoy.
Since moving to British Columbia in the late 1990's I have once again taken up the tools that I love and am devoting much of my time to furthering my skills and promoting my work. I am happy to participate in local arts events and I am thoroughly enjoying meeting and getting to know the many artists here in my own community.

| ||1) "Alison of Render 1 is that rare combination of creative, artistic talent while being extremely detail oriented. Her renderings are almost photographic in their accuracy, yet invite a nostalgic trip down "Memory Lane." I have been thrilled at people's reaction on receiving one of these drawings as a gift."

2) Just a note to say how much I appreciate your work in the picture of our home. I gave my wife your picture for her birthday and she absolutely loved it. You captured the warmth and beauty of our home for all time.
I will be referring friends and family to you so they can experience your wonderful talent.
