| ||Artist Statement
I am a contemporary artist working in acrylics. Through an adaption of tribal imagery and shamanistic iconography, my figurative work offers commentary on social injustices. My process is a stream of consciousness and evolution in search of a trans-cultural visual language.
I was recently commended by the world famous Saatchi Gallery, as follows: "I am contacting you on behalf of the Saatchi Gallery here in London. Whilst searching the web I came upon your site and was impressed by the high standard of work..." Rachel Miles.
I am currently working on two series. The first is inspired by Jean Michel Basquiat and his genius.
The second is commenting on the legacy of the Indian Residential School system in Canada, and the apartheid and racism generated through the reserve solution to aboriginal title.
"Dontcha Wish" is an abstracvt series inspired by hip hop music, an evolving commentary on women's search for beauty, to the universal yearning for fulfillment and the importance of wishes and hope.
I was born in London, England and grew up in Geneva, Switzerland. Vancouver's beautiful North Shore in British Columbia has been home for over twenty-five years.
