Biography: |
| | I was born and raised on a remote ranch at Pink Mountain in northern British Columbia. Home schooled from kindergarten through high school, art was always my favourite subject.
I began painting with oil paints on canvas at the age of thirteen. I remember my first painting was of a wild horse standing on the edge of a cliff. I sold it for $50.00, which was a lot of money to me at the time.
After Pink Mountain, I wandered to Fort St. John, Horsefly, Pincher Creek, Fort Steele and Kimberley. During my travels I married and raised a family but always continued with my painting. The unique lifestyle, surroundings and personal state of being at each place I lived influenced my art.
A few years ago, I moved to the vibrant arts community of Nelson, British Columbia to further my career as an artist and writer. Inspired by this beautiful small city and its inhabitants, I spend most of my time painting. In addition, I completed and published my first book, “Skipping and Tripping”.
I work from my cabin/studio just outside of Nelson on the shores of Kootenay Lake. Actually, I could work from anywhere as long as I am warm, dry and have good light.
Being a gypsy at heart, I have always looked forward to new places, as each change adds to my palette like a brand new colour of paint. Although I love Nelson, I have a suitcase full of art supplies packed and ready to go, all ready for my next adventure. |
