Where has April gone?
What a wonderful month of activity. I really enjoyed the plein air session at Vandussen with so many of my peers. Artist Jan Poynter along with coordinator Linda Poole ensured we all had protective covering, chairs and even sketching material to enjoy the beautiful blossoms at Vandussen.
The Expressive watercolor class is going very well and the students are really fantastic. The Music Box is a great venue to work in.
I am looking forward to the Crossing Boundaries opening of 150 artists for Canada 150th Birthday. My painting Britannia Shipyards has been accepted into the show and has been already sold. A Rotarian connection, the buyer and I were part of another cross cultural event back in 1990. We were both part of a tour with the soviet peace fund travelling through the former Soviet Union spreading the ideals of Rotary. I am really pleased that this painting will have a wonderful home. The opening for this event is May 6th at the International Art Gallery and May 11th at the Federation Gallery. RSVP is required by May 5th to the Federation.
I am putting my art work submission to the Vancouver Art Gallery rental program. The deadline is May 3rd.
Dont forget about the Opus challenge on May 7th. I will be around Victory Square painting.
May 15th, the Vancouver Sketch club will be showing at the Unitarian church in Vancouver. The theme is water, water everywhere. Each of the members will have 3 paintings displayed and for sale. It's a lovely venue and I had my first solo show there last year.
May 28th to June 17th, the Mid main art fair group will have a show at the West End Community Center in Vancouver. This is an opportunity to get a sneak peak of the great artwork the 18 artist will have for sale on June 11th at the Heritage Hall on Main Street.
I am currently reading letters from local artist Robert Genn. His book is so inspiring and reassuring for other artists.
Today, I found a great quote by Fredrick Nietzsche who wrote;"You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star"....sounds like my art life! Happy Painting!

Classes and more
Well, already April 3rd and so much going on!
My class will begin on April 18th and go until May 23rd. I am taking on the class from Artist Enda Bardell as she will be travelling Europe during the month of May. I am very excited to have this opportunity to teach Expressive Watercolors!
Classes are through the West Vancouver Rec Center and the link is on my website. Our first class will be a Mediterrean Sun Rise and we will be using blues, greys some purple and yellows and orange to show the sun's reflections on the water. We will work with everyone's pallette and talk about color theory to help us be as "expressive" as possible.
