What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a new way many websites are providing information to search engines like Google. This is a change from the 'old' days of search engines updating every record of a site by crawling and looking at all the pages. Using the RSS feed, websites tell the search engines what specifically is new. Saves time and cost, and is a more accurate and immediate update.

Since MyArtClub.Com has switched to copy protected images, this feed ensures the search engines will have information on art that is loaded in artist's sites.

An RSS feed can also be of use for artists. It allows you to see a list of the updated works of art from artists on MyArtClub.Com. Using the RSS reader of your choice or by integrating the feed into your blog (or online personal journal), you can access the latest works of art on MyArtClub.Com in your favourite environment!

How to use RSS feeds?

Generally, in order to view our RSS feeds on your computer, you will first need to acquire an RSS Reader or a RSS Web module. To add the MyArtClub.Com RSS channel, click on the Art RSS XML button, copy the URL and paste it into your RSS application. In case you don't see it the RSS URL, it is also shown here - just copy and paste

MyArtClub.Com Blog Feeds

MyArtClub.Com also provides an RSS feed of the latest blogs from our Artists and Groups. Clicking on the Blog RSS XML button for the feed, copy the URL (http://www.myartclub.com/rss/rssb.xml)

An alternative to downloading a dedicated news reader is to use a Web-based news reader. For example, My Yahoo! users can now add RSS feeds directly to their personal page.

Following your favourite Artist or Group

Artists or Groups who choose to publish an RSS feed on their site can also provide a feed of their 10 most recently published works of art or blogs (or both). If you don't see the link on your favourite site, contact the artist or group directly and get them to turn on a feed to their site.

Accessing an RSS feed is just like podcasting, in that you subscribe to a feed. The difference between RSS feeds and podcast feeds is that you receive text content instead of audio content.

How do I get a Feed Reader?

There are many News Readers available on the web. Some can be downloaded for free, while other programs will charge for more customizable options. Furthermore, certain readers will work better on different operating systems. You will need to take these factors into account when you choose your software.

The list of available feed readers is constantly changing. Click here for a comparison of notable RSS feed aggregators posted on Wikipedia. Often e-mail programs and web browsers have the ability to display RSS feeds. They are listed there, too.
