Adrienne Peacock
Growing up on a farm in southern Ontario, I was encouraged to experiment with oils and watercolours as a child as my mother and grandmother were both artists. I began my formal instruction with private instruction from Doolee McDonnell, and have taken courses at Emily Carr University, Langara College, the Vancouver Academy of Art and with the Federation of Canadian Artists.
To some degree, my subject matter reflects my background. I love the natural environment, mountains, streams and other wild places, but I also enjoy capturing the many moods of people. As a scuba diver, I have acquired a familiarity with and fondness for water views, particularly underwater scenes.
There is no more satisfying activity on earth than creating a work of art. Although I have an academic science background, I often find that I am most acutely observing nature when I am painting. I chose to paint what I love, whether a flower, an underwater experience, a lake, a forest scene or a still life. Painting portraits is a particularly satisfying challenge. Through painting, I strive to capture those ephemeral beautiful moments, even if just on paper or canvas. I work primarily in acrylic and watercolours, although I also create pieces in stained glass and wood.
I am currently a member of the Suite E life Drawing Society in Coquitlam and the Port Moody Artists' Association, and an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. My paintings can be found in a variety of private collections, from Vancouver to Ottawa, California and Ireland.
